MIDGARDSBLOT

Dødsjazz/Death Jazz from Trondheim

The Trondheim band Agabas plays fiery death metal/hardcore mixed with occasional jazz improvisations on saxophone and clarinet, which they call ‘death jazz.’

The intense expression of jazz is cemented in the heavy riffs and blast beats of death metal. The result is a sound that is totally crazy without compromising on the pure metal quality.

Do not be fooled by the playful genre mix—Agabas is heavy throughout. Their music is inspired by bands like Meshuggah, Gojira, Kvelertak, Converge, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Shining, while, at the same time, incorporating elements from jazz and their way of playing, for example, artists like John Coltrane and Jackie McLean.

The band has been around since 2016, but got serious after by:Larm 2021, and has since distinguished itself at several festivals and stages with a live show that is at least as crazy as the music!
