TRAVEL TO THE FESTIVAL SITE

Midgardsblot takes place next to the Viking Age grave mounds in Borre, near Horten, in Vestfold County, Norway. It is right by the beach (Oslo Fjord) and near the Midgard Vikingsenter Museum.

ADDRESS: Birkelyveien 9, 3184 Borre, Norway

Traveling to the festival site is quick and easy with public transport.

FROM OSLO AIRPORT GARDERMOEN

When coming from outside Norway, the best option is to fly into Oslo Gardermoen Airport.

From there, you can easily continue by train. The trains leave right at the airport – just follow the signs for “tog/train.” Take the regional train line "R11 Skien", to the train station Skoppum if you are staying in Horten or camping at the festival, or to Tønsberg if you are staying in Tønsberg.

The train ride from the airport to Skoppum station only takes 1 hour 20 minutes and a train leaves from the airport every hour:

Mon-Fri - Hourly Oslo Airport > Skoppum 05:13 - 23:13

Saturday - Hourly Oslo Airport > Skoppum 06:13 - 17:13. After that: 19:13, 21:13, 23:13

You can find the updates timetables for trains and buy tickets online here (website in English): https://www.vy.no/en

FROM DOWNTOWN OSLO

If you are already in Oslo and traveling to the festival from there, simply take a train from Oslo S (Oslo central station).

You have 2 options here, depending on which departure time suits you better:

Option 1:

Take a train from Oslo S to Skoppum station (train line “R11 Skien”). It only takes 1 hour and an R11 train leaves from Oslo S every hour. You can find the updated timetables for trains and buy tickets online here (website in English): https://www.vy.no/en

Once you get to Skoppum station, you can take a Midgardsblot Festival Shuttle to the festival site or to Thon Hotel Horten. The shuttle will leave every hour and prices and more details will follow soon.

Option 2:

Take a train from Oslo S to Moss station (train line “R20 Halden” or “L21 Moss”). It only takes 45 minutes, and a train leaves this direction from Oslo S about every half hour.

You can find the updates timetables for trains and buy tickets online here (website in English): https://www.vy.no/en

Once you get to Moss station, it is a very short walk from the station to the ferry departure. As a pedestrian (without car), you can use the ferry for free. The name of the ferry is Bastø Fosen and you can find the updated schedule on their website (in English): https://basto-fosen.no/schedules/
The ferry ride takes only 20 minutes and there is a café on board the ferry. The ferry arrives in Horten, immediately across from Thon Hotel Horten. From there, the Midgardsblot Festival Shuttle takes you straight to the festival site.

FROM TORP SANDEFJORD AIRPORT

You can also fly into TORP Sandefjord Airport.

From there, it is only a 30-minute drive to the festival site.

Paulsen Bus (pink buses) offers transportation all day to Horten from TORP Sandefjord Airport. Buses leave every 60-80 minutes. A bus ride must be reserved at least 3 hours in advance. For this, use the online form (in English) at the bottom of this page: https://www.paulsenbuss.no/horten-torp-horten/. The updated bus schedule is also shown there. Select “Torp Flyplass” as the departure station and go to the Horten stop (the bus stops right by the Horten ferry and Thon Hotel Horten). If you have questions about the buses, their phone number is: +47 33 04 11 99.

From the Thon Hotel Horten, right by the bus stop, you can take the Midgardsblot Festival Shuttle to the festival site.

MIDGARDSBLOT SHUTTLE

Our festival shuttle will run every hour throughout the entire day and during the night. You do not have to worry about walking at night. Although the area is extremely safe, our shuttles are a more comfortable option.

The shuttle will run from Skoppum train station to the festival area to Thon Hotel Horten (where the ferry from Moss also arrives/leaves), and the same route back.

There will be a separate bus pass sold for the shuttle, and detailed schedules and prices will come soon!

ACCOMODATION

HOTEL

Some hotels in Tønsberg still have beds available.
Staying in Tønsberg is a great option, as it is close to the festival site and can be easily reached by bus.
